چکیده

Abstract Research dissemination through academic blogs creates opportunities for writers to reach wider audiences. With COVID-19, public of research impacts daily practices, and national international policies, in countries like the UK Spain, The Conversation publishes accessible COVID-19 themed research. Such are important global academy, yet role authorial stance therein is notably under-investigated. This paper presents a corpus-based contrastive analysis “stance nouns + that/de que” comparable corpus English Spanish from . identifies similarities differences across languages that reflect how framed each language. For example, academics use Possibility Factualness when self-sourcing their stances with expanding strategies, while Argument Idea external sources contracting strategies. Overall, this adds current linguistic knowledge on scientific communication surrounding COVID-19.
